Reflections on My Time at Northeastern University IT: A Journey of Growth and Impact

Since joining the Northeastern University IT department in 2018, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to meaningful digital experiences and supporting our community through design, communication, and user-centered strategies. My journey began on the Communications team, where I took on a diverse range of creative challenges:

• Serving as the division’s lead multimedia designer, delivering content to over 50,000 community members. This included digital illustrations, print design, and email newsletters.
• Leading design efforts on nearly 20 branded, accessible, and responsive digital interfaces.
• Recruiting, hiring, and supervising a talented team of student designers, developers, multimedia specialists, and writers to support communications initiatives.

As my passion for user experience design grew, I transitioned to a role as a UX/UI design leader. Here, I had the opportunity to:

• Lead design efforts for the mobile application SAIL and several Outsystems-based projects.
• Champion the use of community-driven UX research to shape digital strategy.
• Establish and manage the Digital Experience Program—an innovative UX apprenticeship program where I recruited, hired, and mentored a team of 20 students specializing in IT management, UX research, UI design, digital accessibility, and front-end development.
• Guide the Digital Experience student team in conducting and presenting thoughtful, data-driven user research, enabling division leaders to make informed strategic decisions.

My time at the institution has been an incredible journey of collaboration, learning, and impact. I’m grateful for the brilliant colleagues and students I’ve worked with and the opportunity to shape digital experiences that truly serve our community. While I’m excited about my next chapter, I will always cherish the connections and experiences I’ve had here.
